Who is eligible to apply for an exemption?
|
|
You may apply for an exemption with the HLB if you intend to operate a student hostel or provide accommodation in a club. The exemption is subject to HLB's approval.

What is the definition of a "hotel"?
|
|
Hotel includes a boarding house, lodging-house, guest-house and any building or premises not being a public institution and containing not less than 4 rooms or cubicles in which persons are harboured or lodged for hire or reward of any kind and where any domestic service is provided by the owner, lessee, tenant, occupier or manager for the person so harboured or lodged.

What documents are needed to apply for a hotel licence?
|
|
You need to submit :
A current copy of relevant Grant of Written Permission from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) as well as copies of all earlier relevant Grant of Written Permission from URA.
Copy of Clearance Certificate (Temporary Occupation Permit) / Compliance Certificate (Certificate of Statutory Completion) from the Central Building Plan Unit, Planning and Development Department, National Environment Agency.
Copy of Temporary Fire Permit (TFP)/Fire Safety Certificate (FSC) from the Fire Safety Bureau. If the TFP is not current, then the FSC is also to be submitted. If the TFP is current, the FSC is to be submitted within one week of issuance of the FSC.
Copy of Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP) /Certificate of Statutory Completion (CSC) from the Building & Construction Authority. If the TOP is not current, the CSC is also to be submitted. If the TOP is current, then the CSC is to be submitted within one week of issuance of the CSC.

Who is the Hotels Licensing Board (HLB)?
|
|
The HLB comprises of a Chairman and 4 other members. The Chairman is Ms Hoo Sheau Peng and members are Ms Caroline Leong, Mr Han Yong Hoe, Mr Robert Van Rensselaer Hecker and Mr Paul Lim Choon Wui. The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) provides the Secretariat services for the Hotels Licensing Board (HLB). Hotels Licensing is administered in accordance with the Hotels Act (Chapter 127).

How much does it cost to apply for a hotel licence (Certificate of Registration and Hotel Keeper's Licence)?
|
|
The annual fee is :
(i) hotel with 100 rooms or less | $300 | | (ii) hotel with 101 - 299 rooms | $400 | | (iii) hotel with 300 rooms or more | $500 |
