Hotel Renewal Application

INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS ON HOTEL RENEWAL APPLICATION 

  1. Please note that under the Hotels Act and the Regulations made thereunder, the hotel-keeper's licence expires on 31 December. The hotel-keeper applicant should be a person who holds a post of a Chief Executive or General Manager or equivalent to that of a Chief Executive Officer / or General Manager of the hotel.

  2. The following are required to be submitted online :
    (i) Completed Renewal Application Form.

    (ii) The annual renewal fee is as follows:

    (i) hotel with 100 rooms or less
    $300 
    (ii) hotel with 101-299 rooms
    $400 
    (iii) hotel with 300 or more rooms
    $500 

    Payment is to be made online when submitting the application.

  3. Only applicable for Employment Pass Holders

    If the proposed hotel-keeper is an employment pass holder, then a photocopy of the employment pass is to be faxed at 6736 9423. Subject to the Hotels Licensing Board's approval, the validity of the Hotel-Keeper's Licence will be till 31 December of the renewal year or the expiry date of the Employment Pass whichever is the earlier. In this regard, hotel-keeper applicants whose Employment Pass expire before 31 December of the renewal year are to submit to Hotels Licensing Board a copy of the renewed Employment Pass as soon as they are in receipt of it, otherwise the Hotel-Keeper's Licence shall be deemed to have expired on the expiry date of the previous Employment Pass.

  4. Renewal applications will be open for a period of time of which you will be informed during the last quarter of the calendar year.

  5. Every licensee shall keep displayed in a conspicuous place in the public part of the hotel:
    (a) the Certificate of Registration of the hotel;

    (b) the Hotel-Keeper's Licence; and

    (c) the rates charged for rooms in the hotel.

  6. Where any change is effected in the hotel-keeper or in the ownership of a hotel, the hotel owner shall notify the Secretary of the Hotels Licensing Board in writing all the particulars of such change within ten days of the effective date of such change. Failure to do so, may lead to prosecution of offenders under regulation 43 of The Hotels Licensing Regulations an offence which carries a fine not exceeding $1,000 on conviction for a first offence and to a fine not exceeding $2,000 for a second or subsequent offence.

    In this respect, an online application for approval is to be submitted to the Hotels Licensing Board.

  7. The owner or licensee of a hotel shall not change the registered name of the hotel without the prior written approval of the Hotels Licensing Board. Failure to do so, may lead to prosecution of offenders under regulation 43 of The Hotels Licensing Regulations an offence which carries a fine not exceeding $1,000 on conviction for a first offence and to a fine not exceeding $2,000 for a second or subsequent offence.

    In this respect, an online application for approval is to be submitted to the Hotels Licensing Board.

  8. The Hotels Licensing Board reserves the right to prescribe additional conditions or waive existing conditions for any application for a Certificate of Registration and/or a Hotel-keeper's Licence.

  9. The applicant is to ensure that all information furnished in the online application form and any other attachments / supporting documents must be true and correct, including spellings of names and NRIC No / FIN No. Failure to do so, resulting in any erroneous information given, may lead to prosecution of offenders under Section 16 of the Hotels Act, an offence which carries a fine not exceeding $2,000 on conviction for a first offence and to such fine or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both for a second or subsequent offence. It may also affect the application adversely.
